  • Sara Campbell

    Head Teacher

    Focus: Math, Science & Technology

    Mrs. Campbell is a second generation New Suffolk School teacher; her mother taught in the Primary classroom years ago! She teaches Grades 5-6 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Boston University as well as a Master's of Science in Childhood Education from Dowling College. Mrs. Campbell's certifications in New York State include Childhood Education 1-6, Early Childhood B-2 and Students with Disabilities 1-6.

    Mrs. Campbell began her tenure at New Suffolk School in September 2009 as a temporary leave replacement and before that, a substitute teacher. Her experience also includes substitute and student teaching positions at elementary schools in Mattituck-Cutchogue, Southold, Sachem, Hampton Bays and Rocky Point.

    Mrs. Campbell is a North Fork native and a graduate of Mattituck High School. She worked many years in her family landscape design, contracting and nursery business. She loves gardening and has a vast knowledge of local environmental /re-vegetation plantings. She loves to support her own children with their sports endeavors, as she is a huge sports fan! Mrs. Campbell currently resides in Cutchogue.

  • Nicole Pollina

    Teacher

    Focus: English Language Arts/Social Studies/Special Education

    Mrs. Pollina joined New Suffolk School in the 2010-11 academic year as Special Education teacher and Teaching Assistant. In 2011-12, due to the increasingly demanding standards of New York State, New Suffolk decided to create a third full-time classroom and Mrs. Pollina took over Grades 3-4.

    She holds a Bachelor of Arts in General and Special Education as well as a Master's in Literacy and Cognition, both from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. Prior to coming on board at New Suffolk School, Mrs. Pollina served as a Special Education Teacher at Just Kids Autistic Program. She spent three years as Summer Special Education Teacher at Cutchogue East Elementary School and Special Education Teaching Assistant during the school year.

    Mrs. Pollina graduated from Mattituck High School and currently lives in Southold with her husband Joseph, daughter Alexa, and son Max.

  • Lisa Baglivi | Art

    September 1993 was the first year Mrs. Baglivi taught at New Suffolk School - it was a perfect fit! In September of 2010, she left the school for a full-time art position and has returned to New Suffolk School after retiring. She is so happy to be back and looking forward to sharing her love for creating and appreciating art with the students of New Suffolk School!

  • Ray Ellis | Phys. Ed.

    Ray is a certified Health and Physical Education teacher and has a degree in athletic training from Stony Brook University. He is also an active member of the Jamesport Fire Department.

    Ray will not only be providing Physical Education for the New Suffolk students, but is also the Health teacher and an Athletic Trainer at Mattituck High School.

    Ray is looking forward to working with the students in New Suffolk and becoming part of the NS School Community/Family.

  • Beth Cooper | Music

    Beth is a versatile music educator with 18 years of teaching experience in a multitude of classroom settings, ranging from early elementary to higher education. Beth likes to create exciting, immersive, and inclusive lessons for diverse student populations. She is a multi-instrumentalist and Ph.D scholar with wide breadth of musical knowledge and expertise.

    Ms. Cooper has a Ph.D in Music, and has been published in academic research.

  • Sonia Spar | Spanish

    Ms. Sonia is happy to be part of the New Suffolk Common School community. Ms. Sonia was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Universidad de Los Andes, in Modern Languages, with emphasis in translation and education, developing curriculum for NLL in Spanish, English and French. She has graduate studies from the same university in Negotiations and International Relations and a Master of Arts in Islamic and Middle Eastern Affairs from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Sonia is an anti-bias education facilitator from the A World of Difference Institute of the ADL.

    Her experience includes working four years for Peconic Community School, where she developed EC3 to 8th grade conversational Spanish language & culture curriculum, based on the Reggio Emilia and outdoor education approaches. Ms. Sonia lives in Southold with her husband and two children.

Superintendent and Support Staff

Joe Vasile-Cozzo | Superintendent & Principal

Mr. Vasile-Cozzo joined the New Suffolk School as the Superintendent/Principal at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year. Prior to joining the New Suffolk School, Mr. Vasile-Cozzo worked for 30 years in Mattituck, Center Moriches, and the East Hampton School Districts. Mr. Vasile-Cozzo spent the last 15 years in an administrator role as the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics at East Hampton High School. He has also been a very successful soccer coach, leading his teams to 8 County Championships, 3 Southeast Regional Championships and was awarded the Coach of the Year for League 7, 5 times! Mr. Vasile-Cozzo still retains leadership roles for Girls Soccer, and Bowling for Section XI.

Mr. Vasile-Cozzo is a Cutchogue resident. He and his wife raised their 3 children in our beautiful North Fork area.

Michelle Feeley | School Secretary

Michelle has lived in Southold for many years, after enjoying summers here in her youth. Michelle graduated with a BA in Nursery-Elementary Education from St. Joseph's College. After teaching for a few years she changed directions in her career to become a Visual Lifestyle Designer in the retail world and with private clients designing their homes. Michelle is thrilled to return to the schools to enjoy and get to know the children of New Suffolk! Michelle loves a beautiful beach, growing hydrangeas & photographing just about anything! Michelle and her husband, Rich, continue to reside in Southold where they raised their family.

Joe Wiederman | Technical Support

Mr. Wiederman was ecstatic about joining the New Suffolk Common School faculty at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year. In addition to his background in technology which was acquired over many years of running a successful computer consulting company, he also maintains a professional certification in 7-12 social studies. This characteristic gives him a greater perspective of the importance of technology for both the educators’ professional growth and their students’ acquisition of content in the classroom.

Mr. Wiederman and his wife, Arline, live in Southold where they raise their son, Robert, and daughter Ellie. He has served in the past as the 1st Assistant Chief of the East Marion Fire Department where he still remains an active firefighter.
