Ancient Mesopotamia was the first civilization. The Fertile Crescent was where it all began. After winter the snow melted, the runoff brought silt, which was fertile soil, down to the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Then when the nomads found the fertile land they no longer had to search for food and water, because that was the ideal place to grow crops. When they started to farm, they began to irrigate their fields with canals and ditches with the water from the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
Soon after, they started to create their own cultural elements. They also made a writing system called Cuneiform. They used Cuneiform for keeping track of harvest, trade, and prescriptions. Cuneiform is made of pictures and symbols. They wrote on clay tablets. They also used Cuneiform for telling stories.
About one thousand years later, Judaism was formed. Judaism was important because it was the first monotheistic religion, which means that they worshiped one God. They were also more organized religion and had more rules and beliefs.
With all those features, the first civilization was created. If it wasn't for the Fertile Crescent then the nomads wouldn't have settled, none of the cultural elements would not have been formed, and Judaism couldn't have been created, so all in all, if this didn't happen then our advanced civilization would not be here this day.
