🐶Because of Winn-Dixie🐕

Last week we finished up our Realistic Fiction genre study in ELA with grades 2, 3, 4.  We learned the characteristics of the genre, as well as cause and effect while reading Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.

We celebrated ending our unit just like the characters in the book had a celebration honoring their new friendships.  Some of the party items were, let’s say...unique? Overall, we tried new foods while comparing and contrasting the movie to the book. And, shhhhh! Don’t say that I said anything, but the book was more favorable by all!

First, we made pink, yellow, and orange paper chains.

Next, we had to cut out pictures of dogs.

We attached the dog photos to the paper chains and hung them around the bulletin board.

We made “Dump Punch”. It was a bit sour for us, so we added more OJ!
