Ancient Egypt Studies
5TH AND 6TH GRADE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN DILIGENTLY STUDYING ANCIENT EGYPT FROM THE START OF THE CIVILIZATION.
The students finished the unit by designing cartouches, which are a plaque-like stone that Egyptians engraved their names in to be buried with them for their afterlife. We made salt-dough in school and engraved first names into them. Then I took them home and baked them. Upon bringing them back to school, the students painted them with traditional Egyptian colors.
