Pennies for Patients
On Thursday, November 7, we were privileged to have Allison, a guest speaker visit us from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to fighting blood cancers!
The students learned that years ago, only 3% of patients survived. Currently, 90% of patients are cured, and the percentage is still going up!
We all watched a video that documented two different personal experiences. The students learned the functions of red and white blood cells, and that this society had funded the research that discovered chemotherapy! Unfortunately, it costs $500 a month just to park your car at hospitals
Last year, our goal was to raise $250 in spare change, and we surpassed our goal by raising nearly $500!! This year, the students have decided to make their goal $500, and hope to surpass it again!
Be aware,,,,they've learned all about secret hiding spots for loose change!!!
Your efforts in collecting spare change are changing the lives of kids who have blood cancers!
