Police Dogs Visit New Suffolk School

Students at NSS were pumped to the max with excitement for a visit with K-9 Officers- Rocky, from Riverhead Police Department, and Hudzin from Southold Police Department. Officer Morris trained Rocky, and Officer Mele trained Hudzin. Although the two trained together, their dogs must stay separate. We learned that each K-9 Officer is an alpha-male, so joining the two wouldn't be in their best interest!

Officers Mele and Morris explained that their dogs are from over-seas, and know commands in German.  The K-9s were very obedient dogs! Their abilities and knowledge surpassed any dog I know!

Officer Brewer was here as well, and he explained many of the important duties these dogs have.

Their tasks include seeking criminals, missing persons, drugs, and various items. We were able to see an amazing presentation of Hudzin as well!
